What's included?

We included all what you need to enjoy a 4 hours cooking class with us. There will be all the necessary ingredients sourced locally ready for you to prepare a 3 course menu. We also include water and fresh fruit juice for your all private creole cooking experience. In case we have cooked too much food you will be able to take the leftovers with you to enjoy them later.

The definition of the menu together with you is the first step of each cooking experience. Every time we cook a different selection of meals depending your choice, the season and the catch of the day. It was my first time on La Digue so I wanted to get to know the culture. Georgie did a great job explaining all the fruits and plants in his garden. It was interesting to learn how to turn an unripe papaya or green bananas into delicious food.

What an immersive culinary experience

Without being hobby cooks we thought we give it a try. Georgie totally inspired us to with his easygoing and spontaneous style of cooking. He offered us so many options what to cook that it was hard for us to decide on the menu. Before we made our final decision he just started to cook 5 different dishes and instructed us what to cut and how to season the fish. Georgie taught us a lot about the ingredients and cooking methods. After all the preparation we could enjoy a wonderful dinner with a huge variety of meals.

Fresh and local

Almost all ingredients were sourced locally from Seychelles and totally fresh. We learned to make real coconut milk like in the ancient Seychelles times as well as how to cook a soft and tender octopus. Georgie was very flexible with our vegetarian diet and we could create the lunch we never had before.

All our lives we have spent on La Digue where we grew up with tropical fruits in the garden, spicy masala flavours, fresh fish around the island and coconuts all year round. Locally sourced high quality ingredients are the base of all our meals. If there will be any leftovers you can take them with you because we want to avoid any food waste.

Are there vegetarian and vegan options?

For sure we can make the whole menu all vegetarian or vegan. You can already tell us while booking the experience as well as when we meet at the kitchen before we start.

How long does it take?

In total we will take around 4 hours to walk through the garden, see what is ripe, define the menu, start with the preparation and cooking. Once we are done with all the meals it will be time to sit back and enjoy the different flavours and meal we have just created.

What happens if we need to postpone?

Please advise us one day in advance at least in case you need to cancel or postpone.

Is the experience kids friendly?

Of course, we are happy if you bring your kids along and we will arrange the menu to their taste as well as show them how to cook creole dishes.

What is the ideal group size?

To make it an exclusive experience for you we say that the ideal group size is 2 to 4 people with a maximum of 6 people in total.

Is it possible to join when I have some food allergies?

Yes of course. We will define the menu all together when you come our kitchen. You can tell us your allergies already while booking the experience further before we start cooking. We will make sure that we only cook the food you will enjoy eating.

What is the signature dish of Georgie?

Nothing can beat a traditional octopus curry with some lentils and a papaya chutney.

Where does it take place?

We are based on La Digue at Anse Reunion in the southern part of the island.

If you pass by the St. Mary's Hospital at the helipad you will come along the football stadium. Some meters after the stadium on the left hand side you just take a small path and you will see our place on the right hand side.
